Sophia is Runner Up at Regional Fencing Finals

Congratulations to Sophia Neophytou who has finished runner up in the Regional Fencing Finals. Sophia is a member of the Liverpool Fencing Club and has been competing in National competitions this year. She is currently ranked 24th nationally and by virtue of her performances and experience was able to participate in the regional finals for Epee, held at Weaverham High School in Northwich on 3rd December 2016. Sophia competed well in the poules stages of the competition and notably won her poule duel with the eventual winner, by a score of 5-3. In the DEs, she lost in the final by a score of 10-5 against the overall winner Stephanie Currie, to finish second place in the North West Junior Series.

This is a fantastic achievement for Sophia who has just begun competing in the past few months. Her medal reflects her efforts this year and it is hopeful that with the ranking points collected from this competition, Sophia will be placed in the top 20 nationally.
