Co-Curricular & Enrichment

Our programme of enrichment and co-curricular activities ensures every girl can find and develop her own interests and benefit from a unique and distinctly enriching education at Merchant Taylors’ Girls’ School.

Our new timetable means that many more pupils are now able to take part in enrichment activities on a regular basis as part of the formal curriculum, allowing them to develop a range of important skills that will benefit them not only in their future studies but also in their careers and as members of the wider community.

Girls can gain qualifications ranging from the CREST Award for STEM subjects to the Arts Award for creative arts or First Aid for young people. All pupils in Years 9, 10 and 11 take a Global Perspectives course, which allows them to learn and practise research, communication and critical-thinking skills in a variety of important contemporary global contexts.

An extraordinary number and range of clubs and societies also operates every week during lunchtimes, including the Anime and Gaming Club, the Foreign Film Club and the Stitching Society.

Musicians can look forward to several ensembles that rehearse regularly, including two choirs, the orchestra and the Amabile group. The recently-established Music Theory Club also meets every week.

There is ample opportunity for our pupils to stay fit and healthy, with hockey and netball fixtures against other schools for all year groups, while the Games Department offers badminton, dance and gymnastics.
