Merchant Taylors’ Company Visit

We were privileged to welcome the Master of the Merchant Taylors’ Company Mr Harry Parshall and the Clerk, Rear Admiral John Clink CBE and Mrs Clink to school recently. During their visit they met with staff and pupils and toured each of our school sites, learning about the day-to-day goings on of the school.

The Merchant Taylors’ Company is one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies and evolved from medieval London’s trade guilds. These organisations took their name, livery, from the distinctive dress of their members and oversaw their respective crafts, regulating the trade and tradesmen across the city.

Today, the Merchant Taylors’ Company is a diverse community made up of people from a range of backgrounds, but all of whom share an interest in doing more good together than they could as individuals.

The Merchant Taylors’ Company has had a commitment to education since the 15th century and since then, many schools across the UK have been founded by Company members including our school in Crosby which was founded by Merchant Taylors John Harrison in 1620.
